Contributor Bio

Peng Ruigao is a member of the China Writers Association. In 1968 he was sent down to the countryside, as were many of his contemporaries in that period. He became a farmer and began his writing career. His main works include the novels A Great Port in the East, Ship of Thieves and The Snow That Started in 1970. He is also author of the novella The Expert, among others, and collections of essays including Turn-of-the-century Messages. His novella A Crime in the Town Hall won the prestigious Best Novels and Novellas Award of Shanghai for 1997–1998.
