- This coming-of-age novel deals with growing up with a mix-raced identity in the San Gabriel Valley. Written in lush but irreverent prose, Fade into You—a reference to main character Nikki's love for marijuana—is the perfect fit for readers of Michelle Tea, Achy Obejas, and Cristy C. Road.
- Although not under her imprint, Nikki Darling and Fade into You are being published with guidance from Michelle Tea. Michelle Tea will be acknowledged accordingly in the book's copyright page. She has promised publicity and event support at time of publication.
- Nikki Darling's writing career has currently focused on music writing. Although the book does not deal directly with music as a topic of study, the main character's interests lie heavily in punk music and culture. It also adds to the growing, but still sparse, amount of coming-of-age books that deal with youth counterculture with a protagonist of color. Given this angle, Darling's previous writing will help generate interest in her debut book.
