Elaine Equi’s poetry has appeared in recent issues of The New Yorker and American Poetry Review and features on her work have run in SPIN magazine, LA Weekly, The Village Voice, The Nation, and a number of major newspapers and journals. The occasion of this New & Selected should garner widespread critical features and interviews, making it a strong contender for award attention. Her poetry—as pop and accessible as it is literary and subtle—has an appeal that reaches across the poetics spectrum, from the classical Chinese to Surrealist and Objectivist; from the L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E School to the New York School. Equi’s most recent book, The Cloud of Knowable Things, was selected for the Brodart GEMS program, her Voice-Over won the Poetry Center Book Award, and her Decoy received an Amazon.com editorial review. Chris Faatz, of Powell’s, is a fan of her work, and she is frequently included in editions of The Best American Poetry.
