Pterodactyl Hunters in the Gilded City has an irresistible premise: it’s a story of sibling rivalry and family tradition in an alternate 1904 New York, where generations of working-class hot-air-balloonists defend their city from pterodactyls. As Tom Hart, author of Rosalie Lightning, writes, Pterodactyl Hunters is “as good as any comic gets… a rich world you want to stay in, a real story that resonates.”

A self-published, newsprint Pterodactyl Hunters earned Leach a prestigious Xeric Grant in 2010. It was included Best American Comics 2011, and won the Small Press Expo’s Ignatz Award for Outstanding Comic in 2012.

Since then, Leach has published the graphic novel, Iron Bound, counted on Print magazine’s best books of 2013. His illustrations have appeared in print in the New York Times, Time Out New York, Time Out New York Kids and the L Magazine, online at moleskine.com and xbox.com, and on ESPN’s Sportscenter.

Pterodactyl Hunters has been unavailable in any format since 2011. This oversized, hard cover edition is sure to satisfy the pent up demand from Leach’s fans, and expand the book's reach beyond the mini-comic and 'zine audience. Leach will tour North America in support of the book and his appearances always draw a crowd.
