Better With Age
Your Blueprint for Staying Smart, Strong, and Happy for Life
For centuries, humans have been seeking it--that elusive fountain of youth, a cure for old age. From wrinkle creams and cosmetic surgery, to dietary supplements and hormone therapy, entire industries thrive on our reluctance to grow old. We fear losing our vigor, our social network, our memories, our wealth, yes, even our hair! But suppose up to 75 percent of how long we live and much of how well we age is determined by lifestyle? While scientists disagree on how to prevent the effects of aging, most all agree that you can significantly influence how well you age.
Robin Porter is a freelance writer and author with firsthand experience as a member of the “sandwich generation.” For nearly 10 years, she took on the role of caregiver for her aging parents, while raising a young son. Helping her parents deal with multiple health problems, while navigating the financial, legal, and emotional issues that accompany the aging process, has given her a unique perspective that she shares in this book.
With a background in corporate communications, Robin is an experienced and versatile writer who has produced a wide variety of materials, including annual reports, brochures, newsletters, articles, and press releases. As a freelance writer, Robin has focused her talent on producing nonfiction books. In addition to researching and writing several history/anniversary books for companies such as Domino’s Pizza and the Young President’s Organization, she has coauthored a number of books on various health-related topics, including Kids First, Diabetes Second; Knock Out Headaches; An Ageless Woman’s Guide to Heart Health; and Living with Juvenile Arthritis. Though she has developed an expertise in medical topics, she enjoys researching and writing about many subjects.
Robin has a degree in marketing and communications. She lives in Canton, Michigan, with her husband and son, along with their dog and cat.
