This collection includes Albanian Softshoe, Mister Original Bugg, Cleveland, Bad Penny, Cellophane, Three Americanisms, Fnu Lnu, Girl Gone, Hypatia, The Sandalwood Box and Cat’s Paw. Written between 1983 and 1998, they showcase Wellman’s ongoing exploration of the limits of language and the consequences of humanity in the postmodern world.
Mac Wellman is a three-time Obie award-winning dramatists whose work is widely performed. He has won Rockefeller, NEA, and Guggenheim fellowhsips and the 1997 Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Writer's Award. In 1997, he was honored with a six-month festival of his work, featuring thirty of his plays staged in four cities. He is the Donald I. Fine Professor of Playwriting at Brooklyn College.
