Cherry the Chook
A chicken searches everywhere to find her lost egg and sees it everywhere with hilarious consequences.
A chicken named Cherry wakes up after a nap to find her egg has disappeared from her nest, so she sets off to find it with increasingly hilarious consequences. Cherry thinks she sees her egg, but finds a hatching crocodile egg, a lost white balloon, a ball, a vanilla ice cream and more, until she gives up and finds her egg hidden right where she left it.
This story, written in lyrical verse and onomatopoeia, features beautifully dynamic watercolour illustrations that will make readers laugh out loud.
Kate Lindquist lives with her husband and young family in a small coastal town in regional Australia. She spends each day with her three little muses, who love exploring local rivers and beaches, fossicking in rockpools and mudlarking in the mangroves. In the evenings, with salty hair and sand between their toes, Kate and her children relive their adventures through storytelling. Kate draws inspiration for her writing by looking at the world through the lens of children, making observations of everyday happenings and celebrating life’s simple moments.
