Philip Lymbery is Global Chief Executive of Compassion in World Farming International, the leading farm animal welfare environmental organization. He is President of Eurogroup for Animals, the Brussels-based umbrella body Europe’s leading animal welfare societies. And in 2021, Philip was a “Champion for the UN Food Systems Summit” and co-lead of the Summit’s Sustainable Livestock Solutions Cluster. He is also a founding Board member of the World Federation for Animals which represents the animal protection movement at intergovernmental level. Philip is a respected author; his third book, Sixty Harvests Left: How to reach a nature-friendly future was published in 2022.
Michel Vandenbosch is Belgium’s best-known animal activist who founded GAIA in 1992. Under his leadership it has become Belgium’s most influential animal welfare and rights organization with over 80,000 members. GAIA has largely contributed to obtain unprecedented legislative measures and court rulings that have made a difference for large numbers of animals in various domains of animal exploitation. GAIA is a long-time board member of Eurogroup for Animals. Michel’s campaigning has included animal suffering in slaughterhouses, horse races, cattle markets, force-feeding for foie gras production, factory farming, animal testing and the fur trade. He is also a founding board member of the World Federation for Animals and a member of the Animal Welfare Advisory Council to the Animal Welfare Minister in Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels.
