Emily Kam Kngwarray celebrates the timeless art of pre-eminent Australian artist and one of the world’s most significant contemporary artists to emerge from the twentieth century. An Anmatyerr woman from Central Australia, Kngwarray devoted the last decades of her life to new artistic pursuits, creating works that encapsulate the experience and authority she gained throughout her extraordinary life.
Celebrating the landmark presentation of Emily Kam Kngwarray at Tate Modern, London, this vibrantly illustrated publication is reissued in paperback featuring Kngwarray’s monumental The Alhalker Suite.
Offering insights into Emily Kam Kngwarray’s life and work, the book features original research from curators and academics and reflections from the artist’s Community. From early vibrant batiks to her later paintings on canvas, the publication brings together Kngwarray’s most significant works. It includes rare archival images and a visual record of Community consultations and visits to Kngwarray’s Country.
