Esther
Providential Persian Queen
Esther is the only Bible book that does not mention God by name. Yet, this account is undeniably full of God's providence upon Esther and His chosen people. Author Lou Ann Mokwa invites participants along as she examines Esther's epic saga in this seven-session Bible study. Readers will discover key historical context and background information on the characters in the story, and see how God's grace was ever-present for Esther. They will also be encouraged to trust in God through the hardest circumstances, as Esther did, and to know that his hand is working for their ultimate good. Each session includes an opening prayer, references to other parts of Scripture, and multiple discussion questions-ideal for either individual or group study. A Leader's Guide, including information about how to teach the study, and Answer Key are also included for ease of use.
Lou Ann Mokwa was raised in a godly Lutheran home. In 1984, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Marquette University. Shortly after her retirement from a 34-year career as a Registered Nurse and later a Nurse Practitioner, an opportunity to lead women’ s Bible study presented itself. An avid reader, particularly of history, the Bible has been lifelong fertile ground to fuel her passion to study, and she has participated in numerous women’ s Bible studies. Teaching was a natural transition as she now gathers regularly with her fellow sisters in Christ and leads women’ s Bible studies at church in Waupaca, WI. She has also written for "Holy Hen House" magazine and blog, created the Advent by Candlelight service “ Thee I Will Serve,” and contributed to the 2022 Advent Devotion series from WELS Women’ s Ministry. Mokwa lives in Waupaca with her husband Jim and dog Sophie.
