There are over a billion Hindi speakers worldwide, making it the world’s fourth most widely-spoken language. In My First Book of Hindi Words, critically acclaimed author Rina Singh and award-winning children’s book illustrator Farida Zaman join forces to introduce the Hindi language to children in a fun and entertaining way.

Organised in a familiar ABC rhyming framework, My First Book of Hindi Words incorporates common Hindi words into charming English rhymes, beginning with: 'A is for akash, a sky so blue where little birds fly and big planes, too' and continuing on through 'Z is for zukhaam, achoo! I sneeze. I must have a cold. Mama, hug me please!' Full-colour images illustrate each word vividly and allow even very young readers to enjoy their first foray into India’s national language. A helpful glossary at the end makes it easy for kids, parents and teachers to review what they’ve learned!

'Hindi-English bilingual parents will be thrilled with this primer that introduces Hindi words that match the English alphabet…This is part of a series of alphabet books that reinforces the beauty and importance of learning about many languages and cultures.'Booklist
