Opening the Door
A Savannah Girl Novel
The main character in the series is a perfect example of why people should not make assumptions about other people. Having been raised in a dysfunctional environment left her both with some emotional scars and a means to cope with them. Means that would surprise others. Understanding the different layers of not only her but of the people she calls her friends lends credit to the phrase: "Every cripple has their own way of walking."
Like the main character in his book, Michael A. Roberts was born and reared in Savannah Georgia. He joined the US Navy at seventeen to see the world and traveled both far and wide to seek adventure, Making friends in other countries taught him to understand things from other people's point of view. During this time he also wrote occasional articles for publication. Following military retirement he managed multiple convenience stores on the Virginia Peninsula and constantly made notes about the people and situations he encountered. These helped provide the basics for his Savannah Girl novels. Although no character is exactly patterned after an actual person, they helped provide the inspiration for this book. Mr. Roberts currently works as a security guard and moon lights as a writer.
