Bronwyn Preece is a site-sensitive poetic pirate and multi-disciplinary, community-engaged arts practitioner. he holds a PhD in Performance, along with an MA and BFA in Applied Theatre. She has taught, facilitated workshops and performed internationally. She is the author of Gulf Islands Alphabet (Simply Read Books, 2012) and Knee Deep in High Water: riding the Muskwa Kechika, expeditions poems (Caitlin Press, 2023), among many other publications. With the word “gratitude” tattooed on her arm, she is an avid solo backcountry-backpacker who writes on the trail.
Kate Zessel is an illustrator living in Pemberton, British Columbia. Growing up in Vancouver, Kate and her family spent many weekends and holidays in the mountains where she learned a deep respect for the outdoors and how to explore it on skis, bikes, or by foot. Kate studied graphic design at the Vancouver Art Institute, and her unique blend of intricate line work, patterns, and nature now appear on her social platforms and throughout the outdoor industry. he has created graphics for commercial brands and large scale murals for ski resorts and retail spaces, among others.
