Ilya Tëmkin is a biologist specializing in mollusks and general evolutionary theory. Currently, Dr. Temkin is an assistant professor at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and a Research Associate at the National Museum of Natural History (Smithsonian Institution). The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific, educational, and cultural institutions. Since the Museum was founded in 1869, its collections have grown to include approximately 33 million specimens and artifacts. With 45 permanent exhibition halls, including the Rose Center for Earth and Space, the Hayden Planetarium, and the iconic Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals, there is plenty to experience. The Museum also produces temporary exhibitions, ranging from Extreme Mammals to Einstein and Darwin to Creatures of Light, with recent exhibitions on poison and pterosaurs. The American Museum of Natural History is the only PhD degree-granting museum in the Western Hemisphere, conferring a doctorate in Comparative Biology.
