As a teacher, she helps her students do the same. Shaw’s works have received accolades from Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival, Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival, and Wilmington Independent Film Festival. Her writing has been recognized by the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, Austin Film Festival, Cynosure Screenwriting Awards, and more.
