Tomboy Survival Guide is a memoir told in stories and pictures, in which Ivan recounts the pleasures of growing up a tomboy in Canada's Yukon, and how they learned to embrace their tomboy past when they later identified as lesbian and finally a trans person. Divided into four sections—"Then," "Since," "Because," and "Heart"—the book offers hope and reassurance to those who are different.
