Contributor Bio

Kirk McNair is editor of 'Bama magazine, which he founded in 1979 after serving as sports information director at Alabama. He also publishes the corresponding website BamaMag.com. He is the former assistant sports editor of the Birmingham Post-Herald, and he has won national awards for both sports information and for sportswriting. He is the former president of the National Collegiate Sports Publishers and of the Alabama Sports Writers associations. Gene Stallings is a retired head football coach of the University of Alabama and Texas A&M University, the latter being where he played as one of the "Junction Boys." He led the University of Alabama team to a National Championship victory and was twice named the Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year. He lives in Powderly, Texas.
